A Live scoring of Buster Keaton's, "Sherlock JR."

Created by Dj Jimeni Did you know that silent movies were not silent at all? While the technology of merging audio and film had not ben invented in 1924, when Buster Keaton’s “Sherlock JR” debuted, these film where not played in silence. Rather, these film were accompanied with sheet music that the theatre’s house band would perform while the film played. In this production, Jimeni takes a present day approach to scoring a film by mashing up modern songs, beats, sound effects and samples to take a piece of classic visual art and reimagine it. Hailing from a background in music and DJing which includes turntables and vinyl records, Jimeni’s has always looked to piece together a musical experience that borrows both from the classics, and melds with the contemporary. Come see a new musical look to Keaton’s classic film which follows a, “projectionist that longs to be a detective, and puts his meagre skills to work when he is framed by a rival for stealing his girlfriend’s father’s pocket watch."
